BlackBerry Meets Google Talk

OK, so I ran across this little tidbit over on Google news. Having a BlackBerry 7290, the first thing that I did was head over to Google Mobile. and try and download the BlackBerry version of Local for Mobile. The app downloaded without a hitch, but when I ran it, it says that I need a data plan (which I have, having BlackBerry unlimited service).

So I head over to the FAQ, thinking that I might have some common problem. Unfortuantely, it seems that I do:

At this time, Local for mobile doesn't work with Nextel, T-Mobile or BREW-enabled phones (e.g. Verizon, Alltel, U.S. Cellular), or Palm devices

So what's a man to do with a T-Mobile BlackBerry that is soooo close to be able to use this cool app?????

MSN Encarta - 5 Embarrassing Grammatical Mistakes

I just found this over on MSN....bored and surfing. Really bored, actually.

However, there are good points made in this article - most people in this country (myself included, and I consider myself a relatively good writer, if a horrible typist) have probably slipped up on these more than once.

Bush says spying leak causes great harm - U.S. Security - MSNBC.com

OK, so here's a pet peeve of mine. This current president that we have is a raving lunatic, who can't even speak coherently half the time.

He led us into an ill-gotten war. Had Saddam actually had weapons of mass destruction, I would think that this would be a little less of a sore subject with me. However, the intelligence that led us where we are today was faulty at best, at worst, entirely fabricated to serve a political agenda.

Now for the topic of that story, the ultra-secret doemstic spying program. It really doesn't matter how limited it was, even if it was just one person (but the evidence suggests tens of thousands), it's just plain illegal and immoral.

There is a process in this country when we want to put someone under survellience for a crime that they may either have commitied or are conspiring to commit. It's called a search warrant! They can even be entered sealed (so the searchee doesn't know about them)! I know that this might sound a little far-off to the president, to actually uphold the freedoms that he swore to uphold when he was sworn into office.

The Congress is correct to be having hearings over this. I find it absolutely amazing that this country can impeach a president because he slept with someone (really between him, Monica, and Hilary if you ask me), but there's been no calls to impeach this two-faced liar, who is incapable of serving in the capacitiy to which he was somehow elected.

Oh well, enough ranting for now.

Here I am

My little corner of the web, all to myself...wow! I hope to fill this space with my random musings, not so random insight (sometimes), and just general stuff about me.

First, I'm a UNIX Systems Engineer for a large service provider. What does that mean? Well, I design, implement, and maintain UNIX-based servers. My main specialities are RedHat Enterprise Linux, and Solaris. Those are the operating systems that I spend 95%+ of my time with. But what would be a good shop without some HP/UX and AIX thrown in for good measure? Oh well, that's enoguh about my job.

Now for me! I'm a fairly avid beer drinker, and always enjoy a good beer. Here in St. Louis, we have the Schlafly Tap Room downtown, and there are other microbrews that you can get in the area. But, unfortuantely, the Tap Room is relatively far away, so I generally eat closer to home. Krieger's is one of my favorite places around, the Bavarian pretzel sticks are just to die for (get 'em with cheese sauce)!
